Day 2 – Still on the Great Ocean Road
Well after saying we wouldn’t drive The Great Ocean Rd it’s taken us 2 days to get off it. We went back to the 12 Apostles this morning after a very, very slow start to have a look at Gibson’s stairs. These stairs take you down to the beach to look back up at a couple of the Apostles and the amazing cliff faces that rise up from the beach. We were amused by the amount of graffiti on the cliffs some of it dating back to 1910, I don’t understand why humans feel the need to leave their mark on the world??
We spent the next few hours going into all the walks and viewing platforms along the coast, we racked up a few frequent walker points and stair climbing points. Our empty stomachs pulled us away and into Warrnambool for lunch and some much needed groceries which we now have to make fit in the camper (discovered bogans in shopping plazas are the same everywhere).
We have stopped for the night in a very civilized caravan park in Port Fairy which seems really pretty the little bit we saw on dusk. I pulled all the food and equipment out of the cupboards and did a complete repack, and Col repacked the truck as well. I’m sure I will figure it out in the end…….
I have a bottle of Janz with us but have been too tired to drink it, and it’s not going to happen tonight either! Not sure what we’ll do tomorrow, we are only about 200kms from South Australia where we will start to head up, unless we change our minds again??
PS Have to tell you about this hilarious thing we saw yesterday that Col forgot to put in blog.
We went into a cafe in Lorne to get a much needed coffee, on the way out we noticed this rather large old man sitting outside the cafe eating his breakfast in his dressing gown!! he wasn’t moving at all and we actually thought he looked dead. When we got back to our car across the street and looked back the old gut had got up and was shuffling to his car which was a very old, very low to the ground Porche which he then spent the best part of 5 minutes trying to squeeze himself into it, dressing gown and all!! (you probably had to be there but it was very amusing!!)

A wonderful day! Thanks for sharing x
