Day 3 – Underwhelming Lake and plenty of KM
Today we had a walk on the beach through the shopping area at Port Fairy and found an interesting boat in the marina.

Still no plan so we headed followed our noses again past the wind farms before Portland and then on through to Mount Gambier crossing our second border if you count TAS-VIC border as the first. The great feature of Mount Gambier is the Blue Lake, some what underwhelming as it’s only blue for a couple of days each year in November. It had a sight blue tinge to it but looked grey more than anything at the moment.

After that we decided to get some KM under our belt and get to warmer latitudes. We pasted miles and miles of grape vines in the Coonwarra region then we encountered our first rain of the trip. The rain persisted on and off for most of the afternoons drive and we setup in light drizzle at tonights campsite at Murray Bridge. Almost nobody at this campsite so quite private and pick of any spots in the park. We had a bit of trouble getting here as our male navigator “Lee” (Navman GPS voice) did not know the road along the foreshore was closed due to land slip and had us doing circles around some park area for a while down the river. A phone call and a map on the side of the visitor information centre had us back on track! Sharon is sacking “Lee” and changing to some one else tomorrow. Difficult to navigate with out detailed local maps.
Well we are in a different time zone now and heading North for a while. We filled up with our first tank of fuel for the trip @ $1.509L after doing close to 900km so far (was $1.355L in MLB).
