Day 1 – Great Ocean Road
After a great nights sleep for me (not so good for Sharon) and the saga of the wrong boat bookings behind us we took advantage of the great weather and followed our noses along the Great Ocean Road ending up day one at the 12 Apostles and a really nice sunset – along with the other 50,000 people wanting a sunset shot. The size of the car park is amazing. We did not have much trouble at the Apostles really there is plenty of space for every one to spread out. We are going there again tomorrow as we have to drive past and do the walk down onto the beach via all the steps. We backtracked a few KM to a little recreation area with only three other campers for the night near Princetown.

Along the way today we watched a couple of whales frolic just offshore for over an hour from one of the many pull off points on the Great Ocean Road, around Kennett River area. It is great not needing to be anywhere at any time, it may take us a while to get used to that and doing things on a whim.
The rest of the day was spent in the Cape Otway area and the light house plus the great treetop walk at Ottway Fly, near Ferguson. They have a great platform system like Tahune as well as a 47M high tower up in the trees. They also have a treetop fly like Hollybank but we where too late to get a seat. The price was a bit steep but it was enjoyable and a great view so high up.
Numerous koala hanging about in the trees at the Cape making getting through all the asian tourists standing in the middle of the road interesting. We also met some of the locals close up.

First vehicle troubles today, nasty squeak driving us nuts in the front end. After investigation I found a 16mm spanner still attached and jammed in behind the intercooler and several bolts that were loose on the recently repaired bull bar!!!!! I was not happy. After the spanner removal and tightening up all the bolts all is quiet again. I forgot my 10 & 15mm spanner out of my tool kit, trip to an Auto Cheap required.

Awesome blog! Keep it coming!
Who repaired your bull bar in Tassy ??????????? – ( I know you repaired it on the great ocean road !! ) Nice sunset photos.
Paul.
I might be having a chat with the guy at Finns bodyworks about there quality control when I get back!
