Badger Head
Little Badger head from Badgers Head
A nice little coastal walk with some sea cliffs to visit if the tide is right. Today the tide was wrong and the sea fog sat around for ages before lifting. You access the walk on Badger Head Road leaving Greens Beach Road just after York Town. there is a shelter area at the walk start and some shacks. The start climbs up and around onto the headland before leveling out. You can walk around on the rocks if conditions are right. The scrub on the headland is up to chest height and can be difficult to push through off track. I attempted to get down to one of the sea caves from the headland but it became too steep and the scrub was horrible in places.
We walked through Copper Cove up onto the next headland then through to Little Badger Head down the steep track onto the beach for lunch. I went for an explore and decided we could walk around Little Badger Head on the rocks but boy did it end up more difficult than I expected. About half way around we encountered big undercut rocky gullies that proved very difficult as we had to also time our climb down with the waves to get across the sea cave front. All a bit of excitement and it took way longer than the actual track in the end. Once we got back to Copper Cove it was a matter of retracing back to the car. We collected all sorts of interesting flotsam and jetsam in the section nobody walks around Little Badger. An easy winter daywalk of around 14Km or shorter if you turn around at Copper Cove.
