LMBC 4 Hour
We got back from our Scott 24HR trip in time for Sharon to do the LMBC 4 Hour at the Elverton Property out Blessington way as we had pre-planned. The day was not looking good as we packed and left Launceston with driving rain and bleak looking low cloud. On arrival at Elverton the rain was only light and intermittent. I was support for Sharon today and it was a very weird being at a mountain bike event sitting under a marque handing out food and drinks, I was just itching to be on a bike I can tell you.
Sharon went out way too hard on the 5km loop and I tried to get here to back off to a sensible pace so she had some left for the last hour of the race. After about 3 laps she had it under control again and did a swag of consistent laps around the 30 minute mark. Young whippet Haley was way out in front but it was very close between Sharon and Katrina all race.
Sharon was strong on the climbs but everything she gained on the climbs Katrina immediately got back as she was super fast on the descents and they lapped pretty evenly until the last 2 laps. Sharon started to gain quite a bit of time on the last 2 laps but could not quite drag here back in, another lap and she would have got her I recon. They both did 9 laps in the end. Still it was a good day in the end coming in third in the female category and winning a prize.
The weather was quite good at Elverton with only an occasional shower passing through with plenty of sunshine. Launceston however had heavy rain all day as we found out on returning home with rivers of water everywhere. Next event for both of us is the two day LumberJack at Kellevie.
Results here and a lap certificate here.
