LMBC 6HR 2015
Last year I did the LMBC 6HR at Kate Reed Reserve, but this year things were a little different. I had decided to go paddling this year on a Devonport to Hawley paddle adventure but the paddle was cancelled just a few days out unfortunately. Sharon had teamed up with her Hellfire Cup partner Nic from Hobart for a lead up event to Hellfire. Unfortunately Nic got really sick a day out from the event and had to pull out. Not wanting to loose our entry fee and so Sharon could still compete I decided to pair up with her and do it as a mixed team at the last minute.
One thing led to another and Sharon found out some other girl friends decided to do the 6HR at the last minute so I was out again and they were in but as a team of 3 instead of 2. So I organised another paddle option at Bridport with Bill and everybody was set. I headed off to Bridport and Sharon was picked up for the 6HR on Sunday morning.
Sharon Ange and Anita were the only female team of 3 and got lumped in with all the male teams of 3 in the results but it didn’t matter they were all in it to finish. Sharon did 5 laps, Anita 3 and Ange 2 for a total of 10 laps in the 6HR. They had a ball but were quite tired at the end. I meanwhile had some fun wave action at Bridport followed by a quick blast out Waterhouse road on the road bike before heading back to see the last part of the 6HR and pick Sharon up.
Sharon was so stoked she road the whole lap without stopping on any rock feature she ran up to me when I arrived to tell me about it. Once they finally got around to presentations after much delay they obviously did not place against all the guys in the 3 person category but they won a prize as for the female 3 person entry with the most laps so were pretty stoked with their day. We had to rush off to Jill and Pats 50th wedding anniversary tea so no time to hang around with heaps of gear to sort out and clean up.
