The Icebreaker Multisport
Sharon wanted to have a go at doing the mountain bike leg for a team in last Sundays Icebreaker multi-sport challenge at Trevallyn reserve. Using Facebook she quickly had a team formed well in advance of the event who all wanted to have a bit of fun and just have a go at it as well. The other 2 team members were both from NRM North. James who I also ride with was doing the paddle, Bridget the run and Sharon the mountain bike leg.
Team 402 “NRM North Trio” arrived to a frosty cold start with the temperature around -2 degrees, we were literally the icebreakers! James was underway at 11am with the 10KM paddle along with 69 others on Lake Trevallyn, a great spectacle. A little over an hour and he was jogging up the hill to tag Sharon for the 18KM MTB leg. Sharon smashed out a great MTB time doing the 2 laps of the 9km course around Trevallyn reserve before tagging Bridget for the 8.5KM run leg. Results for everybody here.
I was support person today calming nerves, carrying skis and taking photos. Everybody had fun and the event was well attended on a beautiful sunny day with no wind. After presentations the sun went behind a cloud around 3PM and the temperature dropped again quickly, winter is coming. Great day out and We are both thinking about having a crack at some more multi-sports events in the future for a bit of fun. Some more toys and a lot of cross training required first.
