We got hammered by the rain last night with large intense stormings coming through all night. There was a break in the morning weather and we missed it so we packed the camper up in probably the wettest state it has ever been packed up in. We had our coats on as well as it started to rain again quite heavily. The temperature has dropped and the wind is blowing. We were very lucky to move inland, it was an excellent decision as on the coast they had 171mm of rain and winds to 160kmh!

There was going to be no bike riding today unless we wanted to ride in small creeks so we headed into Canberra as Sharon wanted to have a look at the Australian War Memorial, it was inside and warm as well. I had been before but only remembered a couple of bits and I think it may have expanded since I was last there 20 odd years ago. The aircraft hall was the highlight for me. A lot of the old radio and radar systems and ‘techie’ stuff that appeals to me kept me entertained for ages. There were so many interesting stories of ingenuity and jerry rigging stuff to keep it going.

About 2PM we decided lunch was a critical issue and headed off to Poppy’s Cafe. Well the prices were so ridiculously expensive we got a slice of Banana cake at $5 to keep us going and headed for one of Canberra food courts for lunch. We ended up in Queanbean and we had some nice sushi for lunch for about the price of one roll at the other place.

I got a message from work that a bit of an issue had formed and it made our evening destination choice a bit easier as we popped around the corner to the local Queanbean Caravan Park so I had mains power for the laptop for the evening. Sort of worked out well as it gave me something to do in the evening (other than the blog) and looks like we got things sorted ok. Technology is good some times with me being able to log into my desktop machine at ECS via this laptop and a 4G connection on my new phone and it was just like being there although Maurice was doing the manual things at the other end and we co-ordinated it all on a Skype connection.

Today was cold, windy and wet, only about 8 degrees but it got below zero with wind chill factored in. Tomorrow moderates slightly but southerlies in Canberra are never a good thing. Some reports coming in that it’s snowing up in the Alps so lets hope everything has passed through once we get to Bulla in a couple of weeks time. Nothing at all planned for tomorrow we will just see what comes.
