Day 14 – Tathra to Warri Roadside Camping Reserve
We tried to leave Tathra caravan park this morning after packing up in a break in the weather but they had disabled our gate code to get out, they thought we had already left? Two nights and we were checking out before 10AM and they use a computerised booking system, so have to take some marks off for that? Luckily nobody was qued up behind us at the boom gate.
We hatched a plan to travel up to Jervis Bay as we pulled in there many years ago with the kids and wished we had stayed. We stopped at Batemans Bay and did a bit of shopping and headed up the road. While driving up the coast Sharon noticed the bad weather was going to be particulary bad at Jervis Bay and not as bad over the range near Canberra so as we got literaly to the roundabout turn off to Canberra we changed plans and headed for Bungendore just outside Canberra and the Sparrow Hill MTB park that has huge wraps on it’s track quality. Liz confirmed this with Sharon via a flurry of online messages after we got through the dead spot in mobile coverage.
We stopped at Braidwood a quaint little town with heaps of interesting shops (for Sharon). I went to the local outdoor shop to get a gas bottle for our Jetboil. This outdoor shop was an interesting place with these bid wooden sliding doors you had to open to get in. The bakery had nice coffee and bits and bobs for lunch. We made it as far as the free roadside Warri Camping Reserve on the Shoalhaven River and sat in the car till the latest band of showers passed before setting up. Just a short drive in tomorrow to get back into the MTB again.
