Day 12 – Cann River to Tathra
Wow the morning weather was fantastic here. Shorts and tshirts with clear blue sky today. The drive from Cann River to Tathra was uneventful and about 2 hours drive at our holiday pace. We checked into the Tathra Beach Family Park right on the beach and across the road from the bike shop. A bit more expensive at $40 a night for a powered site but right on the beach and the facilities are top notch and very well kept. Suppose you have to expect that on the coast.

Setup on site 26 we went for a walk over to the bike shop for local information on the tracks then headed up the hill to the IGA for a spot of shopping for tea. We have been here before with the kids many years ago but we stayed at Merimbula that time. You may remember in the news recently a woman was taken by a shark just of the famous Tathra Jetty here.

The day ended up being a bit of a nothing day for us. I spent an hour on the bikes getting them tuned up, cleaned and oiled and then in the early evening we went for a walk down to the skate park along the beach as there was some event on. Passing the fish N chip shop we could not resist and we walked out with beer battered King Fish, Flathead and salt N pepper squid that was eaten down on the beach – YUM.

Or like this zoomed in a bit

Bit like a Tassie beach with all the people on it

Quite a few people walking and dog walking in the other direction

YUM – beer battered king fish, flathead and some salt N pepper squid

Didn’t last long
Feeling like we had eaten something naughty we hopped on the bikes back at the camper and road down to tomorrows trail head and skills park to check it out. There were some cool ramps in the skills park that you had to ride up before they tilted down the other way like a seesaw. One was particular steep and hard to tilt and had you sitting way up in the air balancing for a bit. So after bashing around the jumps, berms and log rollovers we headed back to camp and that was it for today. Hopefully heaps of mountain biking tomorrow. Weather is going to crack big time on Monday with 20mm+ of rain predicted just about everywhere around here.
