Mt Beecroft day trip

Todays goal was to get to the Mt Beecroft summit and log the Geocahe in the excellent Gauntlet series by Sirius Tas. Very windy day and rain to start with as we left the Cradle Mountain link road heading roughly South on the Penguin Cradle Trail. The summit is also worth two points on the peak baggers list and qualifies as an Able.

Narrow track with some close in scrub then lots of button grass for a while. You eventually rise up towards the sharp turn down to the Fourways camp down by the river way down in the valley. Turn right just before this and head up the ridge line all the way to the summit. A couple of quite steep sections on the second ridge will be encountered and some low scrub. A small scramble is required up onto the trig point slabs.

Good views in all directions but I had to hang onto the trig frame so I didn't get blown over today. A great little walk to a peak with good views. Plenty of whip snakes along the button grass track sections.
