I need a new jersey
Sharon and I have been busy biking away training for the Blue Dragon in a few weeks time. I have put in 130km on the mountain bike this week and Sharon has done 160km with a combination of mountain bike and a big 77.4km road ride out through Rosevale.
Unfortunately today on the way out to ride to Evandale she had some mechanical issue with her rear derailleur and it had a major failure requiring quite a few new parts to fix it. I was showing Shane around Kate Reed on the mountain bike ignoring the silly sound on my phone at the time. Eventually we hooked up and I went and picked her up off the side of the road.
I had a bit of a jersey failure this morning. Ducking under a tree branch that was laying low with all the water on the leaves it got stuck in the pocket at the back and ripped half of it off my back. It was my most expensive merino jersey to make it worse.
Maurice’s riding group are doing the 4 day Wildside mountain bike event over the coming long weekend and their support driver had to pull out at the last minute. I have offered to replace him so running around supporting 6 guys and their bikes for a few days, should be hectic! I would much rather be riding it but it was not to be this year. Maybe the next one in 2016 I’ll get to ride it, possibly even with Sharon. Hope the weather is kind to us this year as it’s all on the West Coast.
I have ridden almost 1,000km on my new Rocky Mountain bike already, how time flies. I heard this horrible noise yesterday riding with Sharon and the rear brake pads were gone. Apparently I did well to get that much out of them for the type and riding I have done. Rode into Sprung, parted with some $$’s and later that day I had them sorted and ready to go again.
Sharon has been trialing some weird and wonderful seat designs that cater for a ladies ‘special needs’. The first was some strange prong looking thing and the latest a bit more conventional. Sharon is also addicted to biking and all things biking – Strava, bike magazines, YouTube bike videos and anything else you can think of biking related.
