Had to make bike storage
With the ever increasing amount of bikes we have I had to rearrange the garage and sort out some type of temporary bike storage as things were getting a bit out of hand. Six bikes downstairs and one bike upstairs on the trainer. Luckily one bike is just here till it gets picked up soon.
Yesterday (Saturday) we rode with Emily and Dan to the Batman Bridge and back along the river for a great start to the morning (and two more bikes in the garage – 9). This was the longest ride we have done so far at around 70Km.
It was really sad to read in the online papers today of the death of a cyclist along the route we took only yesterday where we passedĀ Richie Port and many others along the way. The road is two lanes wide, straight and conditions were clear but some how a driver has run down a cyclist and will live with that young persons death for the rest of their life. Who knows how this can happen there, impatience, inattention – who knows but it’s done now and can’t be taken back.
Cyclists need more respect on the road, I ask you what is the longest you have ever been stuck behind a cyclist? Thirty seconds even a minute I can guarantee you have followed a learner driver on the highway or some old guy on the way to church much longer than you have ever been stuck passing a cyclist safely?
Everybody will know somebody who knows of the guy run down today in a town like Launceston, give us a safe meterĀ or more when passing it won’t make any difference to your trip time – the next red traffic light will take longer to get through!
