Day 41 – Chillin
Very boring day today, well for blog readers it was. I have been a bit unwell the last couple of days with an upset tummy which I have put down to eating some peanut butter that was quite warm! I hadn’t thought to put it in the fridge and the inside temp in the camper would have to get to well above 40d when its’ closed up, anyway the jar went in the bin. So today was a washing the sheets, airing and turning the mattress and a general tidy and clean up in the camper kind of day. Not exciting I know but necessary every now again.
The pile of pear cider empties is out of shot!
We did go for a short stroll around the town centre (if you could call it that) and a visit to the bottle shop to get some wine. When we were in there the staff were listening to the UHF radio and apparently there had been two car accidents, one on the Gibb River rd at Leonard River involving four men and unfortunately one of them was dead and another two critical. We were actually going to go down the Gibb to that area yesterday and come back into Derby this afternoon but decided since I wasn’t feeling well to give it a miss.
The second accident was on the same road but at the Windjana Gorge turnoff, fortunately not too serious we think. The main trouble on the roads up here are the Overseas tourists driving Britz and Apollo campers, they have no idea how to drive on our dirt roads, they go way too fast and don’t turn their headlights on in the dust. It’s not unusual to come out of a cloud of dust made by the car in front to see a camper hurtling towards you! I’m a tad over dirt roads at the moment.
As I write this tonight I’m looking at the most beautiful Kimberley sunset, this one is amazingly orange as it sets over the tidal flats of Derby. Col is down the road with the camera taking photos and I’m going to take my wine out and take a closer look.

The next blog will be more exciting I promise!

I found it interesting… But then I like very 'human' stories… Sorry to hear about your tummy, yucko! Peanut butter is not good In heat! I reckon you got the culprit! Feel better soon! Love the sunset pics!
Hey Col, haven't seen the 20th blog come in yet, so hopefully you and Sharon are out celebrating a certain birthday? Happy birthday big bro! Love from the Lambert clan.
P.S hope Sharon is well enough to share a celebratory birthday drink with you?
Look forward to reading the next blog. Xxx
