Today was a get from point A to point B kinda day. Meaning lots of driving 575 kms to be exact. The road from Arkaringa to the highway was all dirt and towards the end we came across a Jeep that had rolled and most likely would have been a write off. The strange thing was, everything was still in it including the keys! There was also stubbies and wine bladders (probably cause of accident in the first place). by the way don't buy a jeep – the airbag did not deploy as there was an SES sticker on it warning of it.

The main Stuart Highway is very straight and the landscape stark with the odd burnt out car body, wrecked camper and quite a few dead cows (gross). We stopped at the Northern Territory border and took the standard touristy photo. It was very, very windy today, so not good for fuel economy driving directly into it.We stopped at Erdlunda where the turn off for Uluru is and got some fuel $2.01 a litre (ouch) It is actually another 244kms from the turn off to Uluru and it was getting late so we have stopped at Curtin Springs for the night. They have free unpowered camping and a bottle shop, what else do you need?

Our first drama has happened tonight, I went to light the cooker for tea and we have run out of gas!! We can't get any here so will have to wait till we get to Uluru. The major problem is that the fridge runs on gas and everthing will be warm and thawed in the morning so we are going to put it all in the Waeco 12V car fridge but it only runs as a fridge OR freezer so the frozen stuff we can save but not sure about the fidge stuff…will get back to you on that one.
